PARALLEL VIENNA
Stefanie Moshammer
A letter written by Stefanie Moshammer when she was eight years old is the starting point of the collaborative work with her mother, titled „Each Poison, A Pillow“. This project brings together a personal and general research on the subject of alcoholism, or more precisely women and alcoholism. In investigating female drinking behaviors, Stefanie Moshammer not only examines the phenomenon itself, but also introspectively reflects on her own family narrative. Her approach interlaces social media content, medical and scientific research, as well as advertisement to create a multidimensional perspective. This ongoing project unfolds through a diverse array of media, encompassing photography, video works, textiles and several installations.
Stefanie Moshammer’s work spans various media, blending personal experiences with social commentary. Her projects explore themes like social dynamics, economic influences, and human relationships, where memories, fantasies, anxieties, and sharp critiques of the status quo intertwine. Moshammer has published five monographs, received numerous awards and prizes, and her work has been exhibited across Europe, the US and Asia.
